Highway Definition Officer

Role Responsibility

We have two exciting positions available within our Highway Definition Team. 

You will be part of a small team and assist in providing a comprehensive Highway Definition service (you can see details of this on the ‘Highway Boundary Enquiries’ section of our website www.kent.gov.uk). 

You will help the team collect and collate relevant information and records and use a variety of maps and database systems to deliver a paid for service to customers. Customer contact varies between electronic (emails), telephone conversations and letters. The successful candidates will be flexible, enjoy working as part of a team, like research and looking at maps and plans.  You should have some experience of Microsoft Office applications and keyboard skills with a love of detail, maps and providing great customer service to tight deadlines.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The posts are based in the Ashford Highway Depot on the Henwood Industrial Estate, Ashford, Kent, but the team are currently working remotely from home for most of the time. 

Interviews are to be held in early January, these may be in person at the Ashford Highway Depot or virtual via Zoom.
