Role Responsibility
Kent County Council Highways has a vital role to play in ensuring the County stays on the move by maintaining and enhancing our road networks. Reducing congestion is a key role for the KCC Street works section, with their work designed to meet the mission statement “manage the use of Kent’s roads to help people make safe and reliable journeys”.
Kent operates a successful and proven Permit and Lane Rental Scheme. Kent considers that a well-designed and targeted scheme should encourage those working on the road network to work in a less disruptive manner by carrying out more works outside of peak periods and enable them to be completed as quickly as possible.
As the successful candidate you will provide financial support, advice and information to the Compliance Manager and the Street Works Managers
You will be responsible for managing monthly revenue / income in order to support the governance of the Kent Lane Rental Scheme and manage and maintain internal accounting systems. You will also be required to have regular communication with the Kent Lane Rental Scheme Governance Committee and provide support with both account and administration functions.
A good standard of education coupled with good IT skills are essential as is experience of accounting systems. You should have a sound knowledge of all Microsoft office applications and have a high level of computer literacy. You will also require good interpersonal and organisational skills and have a strong customer focus.
It is essential that as the team operates in a highly reactive work environment you are able to prioritise your own workload, work to tight deadlines, be methodical in your approach, use initiative and operate with minimum supervision.
