Flood Risk Officer

Role Responsibility

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Flood and Water Management Team in Kent. We are looking for Floor Risk Officer to support the delivery of the County Council’s Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) role.

The team leads KCC’s role as LLFA, delivering local flood risk management in Kent, working with partners to reduce the risk of flooding and to improve the water environment and acting as a statutory consultee for surface water in planning applications.

This role will support our statutory consultee duty and land drainage authority roles. You will provide expert advice on the surface water management provisions of new developments and land drainage proposals. You will also provide drainage and flood risk advice for residents, partners, Local Plans, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and other strategic documents.  You will help to assess flood risk in the county, to investigate incidents of flooding and to deliver projects that help to reduce flood risk.  

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of drainage and surface water management, particularly in a planning or an engineering context. You must have confidence in dealing with the public, have the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly and collaboratively work with County, District and Borough Council officers within engineering, emergency resilience and planning departments as well as external partners
