Family Hub Support Worker
Role Responsibility
Family Hubs provide a place to get the local support and services families need. It might be a parent, carer, child, or young person you support. With Kent Family Hub, you can provide advice, support and services to help throughout a family’s journey, from newborns to 19-year-olds, or up to 25-year olds with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Family Hub Support Workers have a key role in Kent’s Family Hubs. This role focuses on children in the 0-11 year age range. You will be responsible for running groups such as Stay and Play’s and Baby services which provide regular activities for families to attend. You will be supporting child development through early years play activities and providing information and advice and guidance to parents and carers. The Hubs are placed at the heart of communities to enable families to access the help they need and provide the best possible start in life for their children.
We require a hardworking, committed and passionate person to join the Tonbridge and Malling District Family Hubs. Line managed and supported by motivated and experienced local managers, the role will involve working in a team as well as some direct 1-1 work with families. You must be good at diary management to utilise your time well and be friendly and approachable to families who need to build a trusting relationship with staff.
Your role will include:
- Providing an environment that is welcoming and supportive to all children and young people who attend the sessions such as Stay and Play, Baby groups and SEN services.
- Warmly meeting and greeting members of the public attending the Family Hubs and providing information and support through the services available.
- Contacting parents by phone to offer visits and working with families in their homes to provide support and advice.
- Working as a team to provide services for children and families, working across the whole Tonbridge and Malling district.
- You will lead and deliver high quality play environments and ensure stimulating play opportunities for children. Ensuring environments are learning rich, and will use the EYFS guidance to plan suitable activities.

The full-time post will be based in Longmead Family Hub in Tonbridge; however you will also be required to work across Tonbridge and Malling so will need to be able to travel across the district in a timely manner.
The post is a fixed term maternity cover for 21 hours per week, this could be over 3 days or it may be considered to be within school hours across the full week.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
