Role Responsibility

Experienced Social Worker KR10 - Community Forensic Social Work Team

Fixed Term 12 month contract / OR 12 month Secondment (internal applicants only)

Kent County Council are looking for an Experienced Social Worker to be part of an innovative service working with individuals on forensic pathways.

Set up in response to a pioneering programme the Service works alongside Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust to support individuals on a forensic pathway in the community instead of in secure hospitals. This can improve quality of life, reduce inequalities and have a genuine impact on the lives of individuals, instilling hope and realising real change.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of this specialist service, and will provide opportunities to develop your knowledge, skills and your career. You will play a key role in facilitating discharge from secure hospitals, ensuring people’s social care needs are identified and met and taking on the role of social supervisor once people are conditionally discharged to the community. You will work in collaboration with health and criminal justice agencies to build and maintain relationships with individuals, ensure the public is safeguarded and enable people to achieve their goals.

You will provide high quality reflective supervision for qualified and unregistered social care staff and social work students.

You will have experience of working with complexity, diversity and of assessing and mitigating risk. You will be either an Approved Mental Health Professional AND/OR a Best Interest Assessor AND/OR a Social Supervisor. Applications will be shortlisted in relation to Job Description/Person Specification, which should be addressed fully in your application.

The role is fixed term for 12 months.  This post is also available as a secondment to internal KCC candidates, but you will need the agreement of your Manager before applying.

The Service is based at the Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone, Kent but you will be working flexibly across a wide geographical area, including from home so the ability to travel in a timely manner according to business need is essential.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Closing date for applications is Monday 14th October

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 22nd October.
