Experienced Social Worker - Community Forensic Social Work Team

Role Responsibility

Fixed Term - Full-Time role (12 Months).

Kent County Council are looking for an Experienced Social Worker to be part of an innovative service working with individuals on forensic pathways.

Set up in response to a pioneering programme the Service works alongside Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust to support individuals on a forensic pathway in the community instead of in secure hospitals. This can improve quality of life, reduce inequalities and have a genuine impact on the lives of individuals, instilling hope and realising real change.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of this service, and offers opportunities to develop your knowledge, skills and your career.

You will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team, working with partners in health and criminal justice agencies to safeguard the public. You will focus on delivering the local authority’s statutory duties including acting as social supervisor where necessary (training will be provided). You will provide high quality reflective supervision for qualified and unregistered social care staff and social work students.

You will have experience of working with complexity, diversity and of assessing and mitigating risk. You will be either an Approved Mental Health Professional AND/OR a Best Interest Assessor AND/OR a Social Supervisor and will have completed or be willing to work towards your Practice Educator Stage 1. Applications will be shortlisted in relation to Job Description/Person Specification, which should be addressed fully in your application.

This is a fixed term full-time role. The Service is based at the Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone, Kent but you will be working flexibly across a wide geographical area, including from home so the ability to travel in a timely manner according to business need is essential.

Educated to degree (or CQSW/DipSW) level in social work, with appropriate professional registration (e.g., Social Work England).

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
