Social Worker - Community Forensic Social Work Team

Role Responsibility

Fixed Term - Full-Time role (12 Months).

Kent County Council are looking for a social worker to be part of an innovative service working with individuals on forensic pathways.

Set up in response to a pioneering programme the Service works alongside Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust to support individuals on a forensic pathway in the community instead of in secure hospitals. This can improve quality of life, reduce inequalities and have a genuine impact on the lives of individuals, instilling hope and realising real change.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of this service, and will provide opportunities to develop your knowledge, skills and your career. You will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team, working with partners in health and criminal justice agencies to safeguard the public. You will focus on delivering the local authority’s statutory duties including acting as social supervisor where necessary (training will be provided).

You will have experience in mental health, learning disability or autism settings and experience of working with people who have complex and diverse needs and risks.   

You will have successfully completed your assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE), experience of safeguarding practice and of utilising person-centred, strengths and rights-based approaches. You will also be willing to prepare to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional or Best Interest Assessor and Practice Educator stage 1. The role is fixed term - full time for 12 months with the possibility of recurrent funding becoming available based on the service demonstrating successful outcomes. This post is also available as a secondment to internal KCC candidates only, but you will need the agreement of your Manager before applying.

Educated to degree (or CQSW/DipSW) level in social work, with appropriate professional registration (e.g., Social Work England).

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
