Enablement Assessment Officer
Role Responsibility
Kent Enablement Services: Enablement Assessment Officer
Are you positive and passionate about enabling people to live independent lives? Are you able to think innovatively and flexibly whilst working in challenging situations? Can you work in a boundaried yet empathetic way?
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Enablement Assessment Officer (KR7) as part of our expansion of the Intensive Intervention Service, a team which sits with the Kent Enablement Services (KES). The role is primarily based in the Folkestone area, but with an expectation to deliver the service across Kent in a timely manner, to support the business needs of this county-wide team.
At times, you will also be supporting your colleagues who work to enable individuals who are being discharged from stays in psychiatric hospitals in Kent, who have an identified need for enablement and are positively motivated to engage with the service.
The Intensive Intervention Team supports people from 18 years old, including people with Autism, learning disabilities and mental health diagnoses. The team provides intensive enablement support, providing outcome-focused support to enable people to reach their maximum potential in targeted areas of their life. This could involve working with individuals to enable them to meal plan and cook nutritious meals going forward; to find groups and activities which can support their hobbies, increase their social circle or support their mental health; or to enable them to understand their benefit entitlements and independently budget.
KES keeps the individuals at the centre of everything we do, and we are looking for team members who share this ethos.
Enablement is all about taking an individual on a journey to independence or reducing their long-term care needs. This would be through planned support with aspects of daily living, whilst working alongside a structured team to include the Enablement Team Coordinators, Seniors, Support Workers, Business Support Teams, Social Workers, and various multi-agency partners in KCC and health.
You will manage a caseload of people and will establish SMART Enablement goals with them, identifying the correct level of enablement to meet their needs and establish the outcomes required, with the goal of increasing their independence once our service has ended.
The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.
The post may occasionally involve evening and weekend working.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
To be considered for this position, you must have the legal right to work in the UK. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of their eligibility before an offer of employment is made.
The closing date for applications will be Friday 14th March 2025. Interviews will be held on 27th and 28th March at Kroner House, Ashford. Please report at the reception.
