Support Worker - Rusthall

Role Responsibility

We are looking for full-time and part-time Support Workers to join our friendly and dedicated team at Rusthall Adult Short Breaks, a residential service for adults aged 16 and over with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Rusthall provides short breaks for up to five people at a time, giving them and their carers valuable time to rest and recharge. Every stay is different, so this role offers the opportunity to support a wide range of individuals and make a meaningful difference each day.

To succeed in this role, you will need a positive and compassionate approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.

Hours are worked on a rota basis and include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

As a Support Worker at Rusthall Adult Short Breaks, you will play an important role in helping people enjoy positive, safe, and fulfilling stays with us.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting people to enjoy their short break and take part in meaningful activities

Helping individuals work towards their personal goals and outcomes

Providing support with personal care, medication, and health-related needs

Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and person-centred environment

Working collaboratively with families, carers, and external professionals to provide high-quality support

Salary and enhancements

Additional financial benefits include:

Sleep-in allowance of £42.80 per night. Just one sleep-in shift per week could increase your annual earnings by around £2,000.

Expectations and requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or willingness to achieve this within two years
  • Completion of the Care Certificate if not already held
  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Ability to take personal and professional responsibility for your practice

This role requires a full UK driving licence. However, the Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments, and applications will still be considered from candidates who are unable to drive because of a disability.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer facing position.  The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
