Early Help Unit Lead

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent FTE Unit Lead within the Early Help Intensive Units, Integrated Children’s Services, Swale District. You will be joining a team that is committed to providing high quality interventions to children, young people and their families within the Swale district, working closely with our multi agency partners and managers across North Kent.

As Unit Lead, you will be leading a team of Early Help workers and supported by a Business Support officer. You will play a key role within the management team, providing a high standard of direct and family interventions to our children, young people, and their families. You will be able to evidence knowledge of Children’s Services including the delivery of Early Help interventions and targeted support to vulnerable children, young people and their families.

You will have management oversight of active cases and case records, manage workloads, supervise staff and develop a culture of mutual support and creative thinking to achieve improved outcomes and maintain cases outside of more specialist interventions. You will be responsible for the allocation of cases, management oversight of assessments, reviews, closures and the performance indicators for the team you will manage and maintaining good team atmosphere and morale.

You will be able to evidence good leadership skills and a proven track record for delivering good outcomes for children and young people. In addition to your practice, you will need to lead, manage and motivate a team to embed a positive performance culture. Above all, you’ll be focused on helping children and families to change their lives for the better. You will be required to work closely with Children’s Social Work Teams to deliver and shape Integrated Children’s Services.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
