Role Responsibility

Elective Home Education & Children Missing Education Co-ordinator – Fair Access

 The Access to Education Team ensure that all children and young people (CYP) receive an education as is their entitlement by law.  

We are looking to recruit a passionate individual with the drive and motivation to make a difference to the lives of children & young people in Kent.

You will co-ordinate the running of the Elective Home Education (EHE) and Children Missing Education (CME) teams, have experienced in education and line management, be able to inspire and motivate others and possess the resilience and tenacity required to deliver an exemplary service.  You will have a broad understanding of elective home education practice and be perceptive and analytical in your approach to championing the educational outcomes of Kent’s learners.

You will be the advisory professional where clarity is required around the quality of provision in place.  You will be responsible for supporting the Local Authority (LA) to meet statutory requirements in regard to the identification, monitoring and tracking of all Children Missing Education and CYP who are registered to Electively Home Educate.

With experience and knowledge of tracking and monitoring processes and systems you will be able to identify vulnerable CYP through collaborative working with partners in and outside the LA.  You will have excellent communication skills enabling you and the team to foster positive relationships with schools and Kent’s EHE groups and families.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Kent. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as your role will involve you visiting families in very rural areas, often with limited public transport.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
