EHC Post 16 Casework Team Manager

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Our SEND service is going through a major transformation, and we are now recruiting to several newly designed leadership posts.

We have redesigned the way that we work in SEND from the bottom up and we have developed something that we think is unique in the country.  It offers an unparallel variety of opportunities working in the largest authority in the country and we have ensured that there is investment in people through our continuous professional development offer.

The Post 16 EHC Team Manager in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is an exciting new leadership role that sits within the service in Kent to coordinate the statutory management of cases in Post 16 and oversight of all preparing for adulthood for those young people.

You will be actively working in partnership with families to improve their experience of the process and promote the principles of the SEND reforms.  This will also need to be at the forefront of your mind when managing your team, we are committed to a culture of partnership and co-production in our service.

You will be responsible for the allocation and management of the caseloads.  You will be the sole manager overseeing Post 16, but you will have a peer group of managers in other age ranges.  Therefore, you will be expected to have proven experience of working within SEND, but not exclusively, within a local authority.   Extensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and other relevant legislation will be essential.

This is a highly demanding role, but you will be working in an established experienced and supportive senior leadership team, you will have many opportunities to extend your skills and experience further in our children's services authority.  We have a commitment to continuous professional development in our service.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
