EET Support Officer
Role Responsibility
The 18+ Care Leavers service is a growing service that provides support to the Local Authorities Care Leavers. Kent County Council is a large authority and so this service is based at two sites at either end of the county, at Thistley Hill in Dover and Worrall House in West Malling.
This post can either be term time only or 4 days per week.
This advertised post will be based in the Thistley Hill office in Dover and will predominantly cover the south and east of the county, however on some occasions may be required to cover across the rest of the county.
The 18+ Care Leavers Service requires a Support Officer to focus on helping young adults in the service into education, training or employment to move successfully into adulthood and independent living. This post will work in close collaboration with the Personal Adviser supporting the young adult helping them to reach their full potential.
Our care leavers come from a diverse range of backgrounds, so you will need to be flexible with your time and imaginative in your approach to help them achieve the best possible outcomes. You will need to be very organised and capable of balancing priorities, including the need to carefully record your work and provide good planning which reflects the aspirations of the young people you will be supporting. You will need to build close working relationships with colleagues in other agencies as part of a wider network and advocate on their behalf to ensure their needs are met. The Service was rated as “Good” at it last Ofsted inspection and is striving to be “Outstanding”.
You will be well supported with regular 1:1 supervision, Team meetings, staff development and colleagues who are passionate about what they do.
The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
