Drainage Technician
Role Responsibility
We’re pleased to share an exciting opportunity within the Drainage Asset Team, part of the Highways & Transportation Directorate. We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Drainage Technician full-time on a fixed-term contract for 6 months, with the possibility of this being further extended.
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of the drainage service, responding to drainage related issues across the highway network. You’ll co-ordinate emergency responses to flooding and other critical defects, deploying appropriate resources and ensuring timely action. You’ll also assess routine faults, arrange inspections and maintenance, and uphold our customer service standards. Due to the nature of the service, demand can fluctuate, especially during periods of heavy rainfall, so the ability to remain calm under pressure and work collaboratively is essential.
As the first point of contact for drainage-related issues, you’ll collaborate closely with Senior Drainage Technicians, and whilst this role is mostly office/home based, you will attend site visits when required and build strong working relationships with Highway Stewards and other colleagues in Highways. In addition to this you will provide support our Drainage Engineers in delivering a safe and accessible network for all users.
The position is grade KSE with a starting salary of £27,852.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
