Intelligent Transport Systems Project Officer
Role Responsibility
There are opportunities within the Traffic Operations and Technology Team for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Project Officers. These roles will be permanent full-time positions on a 37 hours per week contract (Monday to Friday). The office base will be Doubleday House, St Michaels Close, Aylesford, Kent ME20 7BU, although candidates will be able to use flexible working, including from home.
You will be working in the specialist team responsible for the design, management and operation of traffic systems assets across the county, primarily traffic signals. This team also includes the Traffic Operations Centre that monitors and manages traffic on the highway network using CCTV and associated traffic control systems. You will need to show you are capable of embracing new and existing technologies, with an interest in how the systems can be used to keep the highway network moving and all road users safe. You should be curious to innovate, improve and offer challenge in this highly technical environment.
As an ITS Project Officer you will be working with transport engineers to design, procure and supervise the delivery of planned traffic systems on the highway network. Candidates will be expected to deal with customer enquiries and contractors, so good communication skills are key. The role will involve site visits to assets, and it is essential that candidates have a full driving licence to travel across Kent in a safe, timely and flexible manner.
These posts offer excellent opportunities for motivated, articulate and numerate individuals to work towards a professional and rewarding career. Full training and support will be provided by the highly experienced team to help you develop and excel in the role.
