Drainage Asset Technician

Role Responsibility

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a permanent position in the Drainage Asset Team within the Highways & Transportation Directorate. We are looking for the right person to join a great team on a full-time basis, grade KR7 starting salary £26,515.

As a Drainage Technician you will be providing a front line service dealing with customers reporting drainage faults on our highway network.  You will work as part of team to coordinate emergency response to flooding incidents and other safety critical defects by determining and organising the deployment of appropriate resources. You will also be responsible for assessing routine faults, arranging inspections and maintenance work, and ensuring compliance with our customer service standards.

As a member of the Drainage Maintenance Team you will be the first point of contact for our customers. You will also work closely with our team of Highway Stewards and undertake some administrative and other tasks supporting our area Drainage Engineers to deliver a high-quality service, ensuring that our network is safe and passable for all users.

The nature of the service means that peaks in demand are common and during periods of heavy rain you will be required to work effectively under pressure and as a team player.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
