Customer Service Officer
Role Responsibility
Customer Service Officers (CSOs) lead our front-line libraries teams – they make sure the needs of customers are met and the day-to-day business of Kent Libraries, Registration & Archives is delivered to the highest standard. This involves leading and supervising staff to deliver outstanding customer service and signposting the public to other relevant service providers.
CSOs are also responsible for delivering the Registration of Births and Deaths service to our customers. This aspect of the role requires a sensitive approach to customer service as well as good accuracy to ensure information is recorded in accordance with legislative requirements.
You will have sound judgement, good interpersonal skills, feel comfortable meeting the public and be able to undertake a diverse range of tasks, often simultaneously.
32 hours per week are worked across a range of hours including weekend working and may be required to undertake periods of lone working, as well as working at other locations across the Maidstone Library district.
The successful applicant will be required to attend face to face mandatory registration training in Maidstone on Monday 19th, Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st September 2022.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
