Countryside Partnership Officer (Temporary Part Time)

Role Responsibility

Medway Valley Countryside Partnership (MVCP) are a not-for-profit conservation organisation in Kent.  We are looking for an experienced individual who can run our weekly volunteer action group and deliver sympathetic habitat management tasks at a variety of sites in the Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling boroughs. 

Tasks are seasonal and varied and may include tree planting and felling, scrub clearance, coppicing and construction such as creating new dipping platforms or woodland steps (for example). 

You must have a can do attitude and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a small team.  You will have experience in supervising and assisting volunteers, health and safety and have practical habitat management experience.

Other duties may include assisting with outdoor educational events and MVCPs other projects including ecological surveying, liaising with farmers and representing the partnership at various meetings and forums.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

This role is part time (3 days per week) and currently for 8 months.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
