Cook - Bluebells Short Break Unit

Role Responsibility

Bluebells Short Breaks Unit in Detling provides overnight short breaks for children and young people who have learning disabilities and/or complex health needs from the age of five until their eighteenth birthday. 

We are seeking a Cook to join our team to prepare nutritious meals for up to 3 children/young people and 3 staff at any one time, whilst meeting the individual dietary requirements of the children/young people in residence. 

As well as preparing and serving a variety meals including dinner and some lunches you will need to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen and work in compliance with Health and Safety requirements. You will check that kitchen equipment is fit for purpose and manage stock ordering/replenishment.

A Level 2 qualification in Food Safety is required and additional training will be provided to support you in the role. 

As Bluebells is a Children's Home interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process which includes written questions and a profile as well as formal interview questions.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
