Contracts & Compliance Officer

Role Responsibility

Are you a proactive professional looking to make a significant impact in waste management? Kent County Council (KCC) is seeking a dynamic Contract and Compliance Officer to join the Service Delivery Team in Resource Management and Circular Economy.

In this role, you will support the Waste Operations Manager in daily operations, inspect sites, and make informed decisions for KCC. You will represent KCC at Contract Board Meetings and act as the primary contact for providers and public escalations, ensuring timely resolutions. Handling commercial discussions with discretion and confidentiality is crucial.

You will liaise with customers, partners, and internal staff to resolve issues. Regularly updating the Waste Operations Manager on customer satisfaction, escalations, and contractor performance is key. You will also interpret and relay new legislation and technical information relevant to your role.

Reviewing contracts and proposing enhancements for financial and operational efficiencies is necessary, as well as being an integral part of the commissioning process. You will lead and manage council/provider relationships, and develop action plans, ensuring results are delivered. Additionally, you will support business development of waste services, utilising financial data to make informed decisions.

You should expect to travel around Kent as part of this role, and to work in a hybrid and flexible manner, which may require some attendance to the operation at weekends.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Join us at KCC and be part of a team dedicated to excellence in waste management services. Apply today and make a difference!
