Role Responsibility

We’re looking for a copy and content specialist who wants to push themselves and inspire their colleagues to create great content for the council’s website and digital channels.

You’ll join our Marketing and Resident Experience (MRX) team which leads Kent County Council’s communications, marketing, engagement and customer feedback functions, and works to help design and improve the resident and user experience through various contact channels and media.

This is an exciting new role and a great opportunity to apply well-established web writing and content creation skills. You’ll help us continuously improve resident and web-user experiences alongside a diverse portfolio of marketing programmes. The work is varied, fast-paced and, ultimately, makes a difference to the people and communities of Kent.

You will be responsible for:

  • Producing effective, high-quality web content for several websites managed by MRX, including www.kent.gov.uk
  • Planning, conceiving and producing content and assets that promote or explain KCC services, initiatives, processes and brands
  • Monitoring KCC’s main corporate social media channels and responding to resident queries
  • Driving customer journey success, user engagement and audience reach across all channels

About you

  • You love writing and creating content for websites
  • You have bags of enthusiasm and ideas
  • You have an excellent track record of producing web content that works.
  • You’re collaborative, show initiative and get things done.
  • You write effective content for multiple channels and different audiences
  • You love a good brief, but you can ask the questions that leads to them

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present examples of their work, demonstrating why they are best suited for the role.
