Contact Coordinator

Role Responsibility

About the role

An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a Contact Coordinator within the West Kent Children in Care Service.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the line management of 9 contact supervisors, arranging contact sessions and liaising with service users and staff. You will be responsible for ensuring Contact agreements and risk assessments are in place and ensuring court directions regarding contact timetables are complied with as well as providing regular, high quality supervision to contact supervisors which will be recorded in an accurate and timely manner. Provide Service Manager and Team Managers in delivering an effective and high-quality service provision to the children and families that are engaged with the Children and Young People’s Service.

About you

You will be educated to GCSE Level or equivalent.  You must have previous experience of working with children and have a good ability to communicate with children and young people

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate with colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good report writing skills and ability to communicate clearly in writing
  • Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the service
  • Commitment to equalities and the promotion of diversity in all aspects of working
  • Knowledge and understanding of KCC’s policy and procedures Relating to Children’s Social Services.
  • Awareness of Data Protection and confidentiality issues

Staff will be expected to have an awareness of and work within national legislation and Corporate and Directorate policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, Working knowledge of The Children Act 1989.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Kent and beyond to transport children and their belongings and be available to do so in an emergency. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as your role will involve you transporting people and equipment to venues in very rural areas, often with limited public transport.
