Case Officer - Resource Management & Accountability

Role Responsibility

An exciting development opportunity has arisen within the OSS - Operational Support Services and we are seeking a Resource Management & Accountability Officer to join the team.

The RMA Team authorises high-cost care packages for clients under Promoting Independence, Supporting Independence and Social Work Team packages. Your role will involve checking that the type and amount of care is right and calculating what it should cost through an Estimated Personal Budget.

We are a county service who protect client finances and deal with financial cases, Client Financial Affairs applications, Court of Protection/solicitor applications for finance, elements of Protection of Property and Debt Management etc.

Your role will include holding a caseload which could include, but not limited to:-

  • Dealing with enquiries from the public both over the telephone and face to face
  • Protection of Property Activity
  • Collating and preparing information to progress a person’s Court of Protection application
  • Dealing with a person who has a debt with Council or a complex financial query

Your role will include supporting the Head of Service and the Business Support Manager to achieve the aims and objectives of the service.  You will work autonomously in your role and you will be provided with advice and support to ensure you are able to deal with your duties effectively.

A big part of the role is dealing with queries from internal and external parties including the public. Ideally your skillset will include problem solving, being able to communicate effectively and confidently both orally and written. Due to the work involved in people’s homes you will need to work with discretion and ensure privacy is always respected. You will make use of available technology to support you in your role.  As part of your role, you will be expected to travel across a large geographical area to undertake essential visits to a person’s home.

A comprehensive induction will be made available to you as well as ongoing training and development.

You will be able to understand information and learn quickly to adapt to new systems and ways of working. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to work effectively with customers within KCC directorates and external providers. The post would suit an extremely organised individual with excellent data quality and customer service skills.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
