Business Support Officer – Short Term Pathways

If you are an experienced administrator, then we would love to hear from you. We are offering an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic and supportive team.

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Business Support Officer for the Short Term Pathways Team within North Kent. The post-holder will provide administrative support to the Short Term Pathways Team and assist in the smooth running of the service.

The Short Term Pathways team support the facilitation of adult discharges from integrated care centres, acute and community hospitals. The successful applicant needs to be flexible in their approach, committed to working in an integrated team and ready to embrace new ways of working, to help further shape our services

Our team in Short Term Pathways is creative, dynamic and diverse. The team are proud of the high standard of service we provide to our customers at their most vulnerable times.

The BSO’s within the Short Term Pathways make up an integral part of the Social Care teams within the hospitals in Kent. Our BSO's are often the first point of contact for professionals, partnership agencies and members of the public and deal with a variety of enquiries of sensitive nature.

BSO's provide a comprehensive support service to a team of Registered and unregistered practitioners and the Management Team undertaking a wide range of administration tasks. We are looking for someone who possesses excellent IT and problem solving skills and has a confident telephone manner. You will be required to deal with highly sensitive and confidential information, take formal minutes at meetings and be able to resolve complex queries in a timely way. This is a challenging, varied and exciting role that requires you to multi task whilst working under pressure.

We are looking for someone who possesses the same cultural attributes and values as the organisation, alongside having excellent literacy, numeracy and computer skills and who can use a range of IT systems to ensure a high level of accuracy with data collation and inputting. You will also need good organisational skills to be able to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, as well as professionally communicating with our clients, their representatives and other professionals by phone and e-mail.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.

We are increasingly accessible to the public outside of traditional office hours, as we move towards an 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week service to ensure service needs are met. This post is 37 hours, worked Monday – Friday 08.30-17.00 and weekends on a rota basis.

This post is based at Medway Maritime Hospital, however there is an expectation that the successful applicant will travel to the various locations across North and West Kent to undertake short term pathway work.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
