Business Support Officer

Role Responsibility

An exciting position has become available within the Business Support team in the Assistant Director’s office for Integrated Children’s Social Work Services. Children’s Social Work Services (CSWS) are responsible for the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer/PA who has an ability to work as part of team, prioritise their workload and use their own initiative whilst responding to high volumes of work and deadlines and to maintain and process accurate and timely records.

The role will encompass robust diary management, forward planning of meetings, the management of all associated administration, taking “live” minutes using a laptop, assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations and documentation and implementation of efficient processes and procedures to improve the level of service provided to the Assistant Director and other stakeholders.

You will need to have excellent IT, organisational and communication skills and be able to support and administer all arrangements for Area panels and other specified processes required for the smooth running of the business support for the Area. You will need a good working knowledge of all the MS applications, including an excellent eye for detail as the role also requires robust collation and data interrogation. You will need to demonstrate a confident manner in liaising with staff, senior managers, and professionals within the area, across the County as well as with the Assistant Director and the Business Support team, whilst ensuring confidentiality and compliance with policies and regulations and the commitment to the values and principles of Kent County Council.

This is a permanent full-time position based in North Kent. Offices are based in Gravesend, Swanley and Sittingbourne. Travel to other offices/locations will be required for some meetings. We can provide equipment to enable you to work flexibly from both home and office.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
