Business Support Assistant
Role Responsibility
About Us
At Kent County Council, our Family Hubs are vibrant community spaces where families with children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 with SEND) can access a wide range of support. From midwifery and health visiting to parenting advice and youth activities, we’re here to help families thrive. With 56 hubs across Kent, we work hand-in-hand with partners to make a real difference
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a proactive and people-focused Business Support Assistant to join our Tonbridge & Malling team. Based in Snodland & East Malling, you’ll also support hubs across Tonbridge and South Tonbridge.
This is a front-facing role where you’ll be the welcoming face of our hubs—greeting families, signposting services, and supporting our Family Hub Workers. You’ll also play a vital role behind the scenes, keeping things running smoothly with your admin skills, organisational flair, and calm, can-do attitude.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for families, staff, and partners
- Supporting the day-to-day running of our hubs, including opening/closing and health & safety checks
- Managing sensitive information and coordinating meetings
- Using Microsoft Office and other IT tools to keep everything on track
- Helping to create a warm, inclusive, and efficient environment for everyone who walks through our doors
- Managing social media posts and digital engagement to promote Family Hub services
- Handling compliments, complaints, and occasional cash transactions securely
- Booking and preparing rooms for meetings and activities, including refreshments
- Conducting weekly fire alarm tests and logging results
- Supporting the Family Hub’s digital and virtual offer to families
- Capturing and updating data in systems like Core+ and ensuring accuracy in attendance and registration records
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, confident, and great on the phone
- Organised and able to juggle tasks with ease
- Comfortable working across different locations
- Experienced in admin and customer service
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and other digital tools
- Aware of safeguarding, data protection, and health & safety practices
- Curious, compassionate, and committed to making a difference
You’ll need a Level 2 qualification or equivalent practical experience, and a willingness to learn and grow in the Family Hubs environment.

What We Offer
- 28 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata)
- A generous pension scheme
- Ongoing training and development
- A supportive team culture and staff networks
- Access to Kent Rewards – discounts on top brands and services
- A meaningful role where you’ll make a real impact every day
- Location: Tonbridge & Malling District (Base: East Malling)
