Business Support Officer - Youth Justice Team

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent County Council as a Business Support Officer within our Youth Justice team, providing administrative support to assist in the smooth running of our service. 
 
This full-time vacancy is for our team in West Kent, based at Invicta House, Maidstone (ME14 1XX), covering Maidstone, Tonbridge & Malling, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. The role is split between working from the office for a minimum of 2 days a week and working from home. 
 
We are looking for someone who has an interest in Youth Justice (YJ) and the Criminal Justice System, with experience and skills outlined below and in the job description.  
 
Regular duties include: 
 
- Daily mailbox monitoring (dealing with queries from partner agencies and the public, as well as your team). 
- Managing area diaries (inputting report due dates, court hearings, and appointments). 
- Minuting weekly Unit Meetings. 
- Organising monthly Court Duty rotas. 
- Preparing documents for Court (collating court lists and outcomes, chasing partner agencies for information prior to court, liaising with other Local Authorities for out of area young people, and more). 
- Accurately recording on case management systems. 
- Purchasing items for your team (ordering resources, booking interpreters / venues). 
- Ensuring data quality (making changes to information on the systems to fit reporting requirements and guarantee accuracy). 
 
You will be working in a fast-paced environment, providing invaluable professional support to Youth Justice staff in the district. Qualities we are looking for in candidates include proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams), excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and proactively manage your workload whilst responding to urgent requests and deadlines. Having pride in your work, strong IT and administrative skills, and an aptitude for learning are integral to this role.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
