Business Support Officer - Thanet and Dover District Libraries
Role Responsibility
The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Officer (BSO) to provide financial and administrative support to Libraries, Registration and Archives (LRA) for the Thanet and Dover District libraries and the Registration Service.
The team is made up of 8 Business Support Officers who support the Library and Registration districts and central budgets of LRA, making up part of the wider Business Support Team. You will work independently but come together to share knowledge, best practice, and support each other. You will work closely with your own library district, District Service Manager and Service Manager – Registration to provide financial and administrative support.
You will support the Thanet and Dover District Libraries and Registration Service with duties including, but not limited to, recording and reconciliation of library income and expenditure, budget monitoring, Imprest returns, and placing orders. You will provide support and guidance on financial procedures ensuring compliance with KCC’s financial policies and procedures, and that audit requirements are met. You will also reconcile registration income received for ceremonies for the county dealing with complex, high value and volume data.
You will have the ability to work on your own as well as within a team, working with minimal supervision you will organise your own workload, have good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with and support wider teams, problem solve and provide challenge where necessary.
You will have good numeracy skills, attention to detail, a sound working knowledge of financial procedures and best practice, and be confident in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and databases.
This is a permanent full time position offering hybrid working with a mix of working from home and working from a KCC Library. Working base is negotiable but the successful candidate must have the ability to travel to libraries in the Thanet and Dover area, as well as Maidstone.
