If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term role within Canterbury Children's Social Work Team as a Business Support Officer at Brook House, Whitstable. Our team is dedicated to safeguarding children and providing essential back-office support to frontline Social Workers. With 5 Social Work Teams supported by highly skilled and professionally resilient BSOs, you'll be joining a strong and supportive environment. With regular supervisions, team meetings and guidance available you will be supported by a Business Support Lead, who will have oversight of your tasks.
As a Business Support Officer, you'll be the backbone of our service, assisting Practitioners and Team Managers with a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of our operations. This role is both varied and challenging, requiring excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as previous administrative experience.
To excel in this role, you'll need to have an empathetic and caring approach, coupled with the ability to remain emotionally resilient. You'll proactively manage your workload, support the wider team, and respond to urgent requests and deadlines. As the first point of contact for the service, you'll confidently liaise with families, colleagues, and professionals within a multi-agency environment.
We're looking for someone with strong administrative experience who is comfortable handling a range of responsibilities and using various IT packages. Strong digital skills and a confidence to take minutes and liaise with our partners is essential to succeed in this role. You'll provide full confidential business support, accurately record cases on electronic systems, and support a range of meetings by organising and taking precise minutes.
This role is based at Brook House in Whitstable, and is a short walk from the Chestfield & Swalecliffe train station. There is a requirement for office presence to support this busy team. This is a fixed term position until 05 May 2026.
