Business Manager (Performance and Business Process)

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

We have an exciting opportunity in Highways and Transportation (H&T) for a Business Manager, with a focus on performance and business processes. If you are someone that likes to use data to understand and improve services and, in particular, work with and challenge our senior managers, as well as our supply chain partners, to drive these improvements across a whole range of front line highway services, then this is the role for you.

We are looking for someone that can process review how services are currently delivered, help identify improvements, and work with managers and their teams (reaching back into KCC when needed) to develop the way forward and help to implement and develop ways to monitor effectiveness in the future. You will want to understand the business and be able to see things from our customers’ perspective, before jumping straight into how IT systems can help us deliver better. You will enjoy working across a range of teams and services, working with Heads of Service and their Senior Management Teams and know how to be supportive, but challenge constructively.

In H&T we look after 5,400 miles of road, receive over 200,000 contacts from customers each year, have over 500 staff and manage an annual budget of over £230 million.  The opportunities to help managers improve how they work, thus improving the outcomes and experience for residents and our local communities, is both immense and exciting.

You will be managing a small business team of your own who deliver some core business services across H&T and, importantly, must be able to influence and win the trust and support of a wide range of managers and staff, both within H&T and across KCC.
