Area Technician
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Technician to join our County Technician Service. You will join an established team of staff fitting equipment and minor adaptations in the homes of people with disabilities. The aim of this work is to support people and their carers to live as safely and independently as possible in the community. In order to fulfil this role, you will need to be technically skilled, have excellent communication skills, be reliable, flexible & resilient.
You will carry out assessments and receive referrals to fit adaptations on a day-to-day basis. These will need to be prearranged with people and completed within agreed timescales. Your work will be overseen by a Senior Technician. You will be a lone worker and work within people’s homes. You will receive training in order to perform as a trusted assessor. You will possess an appropriate craft or technical qualification and the hands-on skills to enable you to fit adaptations and equipment to a high standard. You will be expected to have good IT skills in order to receive work, manage and report on your performance.
You will be a home-based mobile worker, working alone scheduling appointments within tight timescales. You will need to be able to work under pressure and prioritise your activities with some flexibility.
The role requires you to travel throughout a wide geographical area within Kent. You will be provided with a vehicle to do this. This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
