Administration Officer - Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children's Service

Role Responsibility

The Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking (UAS) Children’s Service is seeking candidates for a 6-month Administration Officer, to support key communication and engagement activities.

Kent County Council’s UAS Children’s Service provides accommodation and support to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent. The Service leads on social work practice with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent, which Ofsted recognises as Outstanding. 

The developments taking place in the service require robust communication and engagement with partners and communities. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual, capable of providing high-quality support in the form of:

  • Managing a busy mailbox of enquiries and complaints
  • Working with colleagues to ensure correct KCC processes are followed in handling enquiries/complaints
  • Drafting and coordinating responses to enquiries and complaints
  • Dispatching communications and responses

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This is a hybrid position, working from home and from Kroner House, Ashford.

Interviews have been tentatively scheduled for 11 April 2024 at Kroner House, Ashford.  

We are looking for someone to start by the end of April 2024.
