Accounting Technician Level 1

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a KR6 Accounting Technician Level 1 in Finance, within the Financial Analysis & Support Team. This post is offered on a fixed term basis, until 30 June 2026. The role is full time (37 hours per week) however part time/job share applications are also welcome.

The primary location for this role is Sessions House, although currently involves working from home with some office working as required at Maidstone.

This is an exciting time to join the Financial Analysis & Support Team, as the team will play a significant role in supporting KCC’s upcoming move to a new accounting system, and this role would suit anyone who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in this area.  You will be part of a friendly team that supports the Finance division by maintaining a range of financial systems. The main responsibility of this post is to provide administrative support of the Oracle General Ledger by uploading journal transfers, maintaining the coding structure and providing advice and support to internal and external customers.

You will have excellent spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel) and be a competent user of other Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Teams. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
