Financial Affairs Manager

Role Responsibility

We are seeking an exceptional Financial Affairs Manager within Financial Assessment & Income to lead, develop, and deliver a comprehensive Financial Affairs service on behalf of Kent County Council. This pivotal role ensures that the financial needs of vulnerable residents are met in accordance with statutory requirements, best practice, and Council policy.

The post is based in Maidstone, however we undertake hybrid working, meaning that we work from home and the office, depending on business needs. The position available is permanent full time (37 hours per week).

You will head the Financial Affairs Teams, driving performance, leading improvements, and ensuring a customer‑focused, cost‑effective service. As a senior leader, you will act as the Council’s expert on Financial Affairs, collaborating with internal departments, government bodies, and external partners—including the Office of the Public Guardian and Court of Protection—to safeguard the financial welfare of individuals under our care.

This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient, forward‑thinking leader with strong financial acumen and a passion for public service.

The successful candidate will lead, inspire and motivate the Financial Affairs Teams, promoting a positive, outcome focused and customer centred culture. You must be able to plan, prioritise and manage the overall team workload, ensuring statutory compliance and continuous service improvement.

You will provide leadership through change, supporting staff development and maintaining high performance standards, and represent the Financial Assessment & Income Team as the subject matter expert.

We politely request that all applicants state their interest, skills, and experience for one of these roles (relevant to the job description) in the ‘Reason for Application’ section of their online application form.

As an employee of Kent County Council, you will receive excellent benefits, including a generous annual leave package and membership of the pension scheme. Full training and support will be provided and there will be opportunities for career progression, including support to gain relevant qualifications.

These posts are considered by Kent County Council to be customer-facing positions. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interviews to be held in person on 13 April 2026 in Maidstone.
