We have a permanent, full-time vacancy for a KR10 Accountant Level 2 (Chief Accountant’s Team) within Kent County Council’s (KCC’s) Finance division. The primary location for this post is Sessions House, although the post currently involves working from home, with some office working as required at Maidstone. Both internal and external applicants are welcome.
The Role
The successful applicant will be required to provide management and financial accounting for Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authority (KEIFCA) and East Kent Opportunities LLP. They will be required to provide professional financial vetting and support the Commercial Manager on commercial activities that the Council are considering or has entered into. Furthermore, the post holder will be expected to support the Chief Accountant on the delivery of overhead allocations, government returns and closedown tasks as required. The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (e.g. AAT), and/or with proven ability to deliver the requirements of the post. The post holder will be expected to have excellent Excel spreadsheet skills and good experience of working in a finance environment, interpreting and applying accounting standards / policies. It is important that the post holder has accountancy experience of meeting regular tight deadlines.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
