Youth Justice Practice Improvement & Development Officer – Victim Voice Lead

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Do you want to make a genuine, positive difference to victims of youth crime? Do you understand the impact of restorative justice on both victims and young people who offend? At Kent Youth Justice we’re looking for somebody, with an excellent understanding of restorative approaches, to be a key part of our practice improvement team. Working alongside colleagues to improve the services we deliver; you will hold lead responsibility for ensuring that the voices of victims are central to our interventions with young people.

We’re more interested in who you are, than in what you’ve studied. If you can engage victims and sensitively guide them through a restorative process, then this could be the role for you.

You will ensure that policy, strategy, and standards for victims are of the highest quality and that practice improvement is informed by the victims you support. You will develop, coordinate, and articulate an effective Victim Voice plan, which delivers outstanding operational restorative approaches. You will work closely with the Referral Order Volunteer Lead to ensure that the victim’s voice is central to the Referral Order panel process.

If this sounds like a role for you, please read the Job Description and Person Specification and demonstrate in your application that you can fulfil the requirements of this role.

Applications close Monday 9th November and interviews are currently scheduled for Thursday 19th November.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service but having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us. We consider how long ago your offences were, your attitudes to offending and how you’ve learnt from your experiences.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
