Youth Hub Delivery Manager

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen in West Kent, for a Youth Hub Delivery Manager  within the Open Access Services, in the Children Young People and Education Directorate at Kent County Council. 

Kent County Council has a Youth Hub in each of the 12 Districts across the County.  This post will be based either at Maidstone Youth Hub or Tonbridge and Malling Youth Hub (in Tonbridge)

Youth Hubs offer universal open access provision as well as targeted support to young people who require additional support, aged 8- 19 (25 years with additional needs).

In these Hubs, young people can come to meet friends, learn new skills, and have opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities and youth achievement awards. 

As we are currently in unprecedented times, our Youth Work practise and provision is being adapted and developed to meet the needs of young people.  As such we are committed to the underlying principles of Youth Work and will focus all work on engaging young people in positive activities to help them:

 

  • Manage their mental health and develop resilience
  • Understand their relationships
  • Understand risk factors in their life
  • Understand their personal responsibilities and develop their sense of belonging within society

As a Youth Hub manager you will be responsible for developing partnerships and managing a team of staff in order to co-ordinate a varied and meaningful programme of activities that have real impact for young people within the four areas listed above.

In doing this you will have the support of the Area Service Manger and a very strong pear group of professional Youth Hub Managers from the other three Districts in the  Area.

About You:

 

  • Hold a recognised professional qualification with background in youth work.  
  • Ability to build rapport and engage young people in the service.
  • Experienced in management of a team of staff, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance and those of your team. 
  • Ability to interpret data and meet targets in line with District and County priorities and translate this into action for the delivery of inclusive and quality youth provision.
  • Adept in managing budgets, building and resources for the successful operation of the Hub.  
  • Up to date knowledge of developments and trends in youth work.
  • Track record of partnership working across a variety of agencies in meeting needs of young people.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including safeguarding and regulatory frameworks.
  • Passionate about changing outcomes for young people.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Kent.  The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
