Whole Systems Obesity Project Officer

Role Responsibility

The Public Health Team are looking for an individual to join our team who is passionate about health and wellbeing and who can support us in reducing obesity within the County. 

The Whole Systems Approach to Obesity (WSO) in Kent commenced in 2020 and a Healthy Weight Network is under development, recruiting support from a wide range of partner agencies and developing a whole system approach to tackling obesity. You will be working closely with a wide range of public, private, voluntary and academic sector partners from across the system in Kent who will form the Kent WSO Network, to drive wider partner action.

We are looking for a highly skilled officer who will be responsible for coordinating and directing partner activity, developing the network, promoting the network’s activities and recruiting new organisations to the support the network vision. Working closely with the Whole Systems Obesity Public Health Specialist and the supporting Healthy Weight team, this role will support the development and delivery of Kent’s Whole System Approach to obesity and support the reduction of health inequalities, with a focus on the Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Swale districts of Kent County. 

This role requires a high degree of relationship building skills, excellent organisation skills, strong data skills and a passion for this agenda. Additionally, the role will support and facilitate referrals into Tier 2 weight management services.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
