Visitor Services and Events Officer - Shorne Woods Country Park

Role Responsibility

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Kent County Council, Country Parks team who provide leisure, education, events, venue hire and café services across 9 Country Parks in Kent.

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Visitor Services and Events Officer based at Shorne Woods Country Park. The role includes duty management of the Country Park with responsibility for the smooth day-to-day operation of the visitor centre and managing arrangements for other products and services we offer including team building, birthday parties, venue hire and education. You will also lead the development and delivery of the events programme at the country park.

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer focused individual, with a passion for dealing with customers face to face. It is essential that you have customer service experience, within a leisure or retail setting.

You will report to the Visitor Experience Manager and will support a number of Visitor Services and Events Assistants and Caretaking staff. You will work closely with the Ranger, Education and Café Services team to ensure that customers receive a joined up friendly, professional and welcoming experience when visiting the park.

This is a permanent annualised hours position 1,705 hours per annum, averaging 32.7 hours per week, working every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and you can select to work every Saturday or work Saturday and Sunday every other weekend. Your daily start and finish times will be 8.30am and 5.30pm (4.30pm November to February inclusive), although there may be a need to work outside these hours on occasion.

You will be required to work Bank Holidays on a rota basis. Whilst you will be based at Shorne Woods Country Park, you may be required to work at Lullingstone Country Park or Trosley Country Park on occasion to assist the running of Kent Country Parks.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
