Virtual School Kent Education Support Officer

VSK Education Support Officer (Key stage 1 to 4)

Do you have a passion for supporting children in care to achieve better educational outcomes?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Education Support Officer to join our friendly dynamic and supportive team at the Virtual School Kent a service within KCC. We are looking for somebody to work in our South Kent team supporting schools, stakeholders and young people in care in the area.  

Your main duty will include managing a caseload of children in care in curriculum  Years 1 - 11 , ensuring they all have high quality, up to date and regularly reviewed Personal Education Plans (PEPs).

To achieve this you will be collaborating with school staff, social workers, partners across multi-agency teams and carers to ensure best outcomes for children and young people in care.

You will need to be self-motivated and highly organised with the ability to prioritise work and be flexible in order to meet the needs of the team and the young people we support. An excellent knowledge of the education system and a commitment to inclusion are essential to the role.

This is a Term Time only Contract which will end initially on 1st April 2025. This will be reviewed in the new year,  and the contract will be renewed if Pupil Premium + funding continues.  The main base for this role is Brook House in Whitstable.  

Your week will be varied, with a hybrid pattern of working which will include home-based and office-working as well as attending meetings in different educational settings. Therefore the ability to travel across the area to meet these requirements is essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
