Usher

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Kent Register Offices conduct marriage and civil partnerships, renewals of vows and welcoming ceremonies throughout the year. Our Ushers are the first point of contact for all guests attending larger ceremonies at the Kent Register Offices across the county.

To help our Celebratory teams to deliver excellent ceremonies for our customers, we need the right people welcoming customers and helping with enquiries throughout the day.

Relevant experience would come in handy, but it isn’t essential. It’s much more important that you’re friendly, outgoing and approachable. If you enjoy working as part of a team, have a friendly helpful attitude to the public and are interested in delivering services to the community we would welcome a call from you.

This is a zero-hour contract. Work is allocated to our Ushers according to the business need. The busiest days are Fridays and Saturdays throughout the peak months of June-September. There can be several ceremonies in succession on the busiest days.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
