Unit Senior Early Help Worker

Role Responsibility

Senior Early Help Worker, Intensive Early Help Unit,  Dover District

This is a fixed term full time position until 31st March 2021.

About the role:

Working with a team using a systemic approach, Early Help Unit workers undertake casework with a range of families with children of all ages requiring intensive support for multiple issues which include; domestic violence, out of court disposals, prevention of the need for statutory social care intervention, children and young people experiencing significant school attendance concerns or behaviour difficulties as well as step-down and step across cases from Children’s Social Work Team.

The Dover Early Help Units are based in Children’s Centres and Youth Hubs working flexibly across a wide district together with open access services to ensure an integrated approach and best outcomes for children and young people.

As a Senior Early Help Worker, you would be expected to manage a caseload of complex cases, providing a high quality, effective and responsive service for children, young people and their families, targeting support as required at critical times and stages of development as well as supporting the Unit Lead with team management responsibilities.

About you:

You will hold a relevant degree or related Level 5 or above professional qualification and/or have extensive experience of working within a targeted support, social care, youth justice, health, education or youth work setting.

With the ability to create a rapport and build relationships with children, young people and families, you will be able to gather and interpret information from a range of sources. You’ll have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.

You will be flexible in your approach and committed to helping to develop a new way of working.

You will be prepared to work in new ways and willing to learn, working collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
