Tribunal, Assessment and Placement Manager
Role Responsibility
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward-looking SEN Manager to drive improvements within Kent County Council SEN services. As part of a brand-new SEND operating model, you will have the opportunity to shape the way in which the new service operates to improve parental satisfaction, strengthen decision-making on a countywide basis, and work collaboratively with other parts of the SEN system to improve outcomes for children and young people.
The Tribunal, Assessment, and Placement manager role represents a unique opportunity to join a newly established team in a key leadership role, delivering high quality, flexible and responsive services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The post-holder will maintain and develop good models of stakeholder engagement in decision-making and support effective co-planning and collaborative working between parents, SEND staff and colleagues across education, children and adults social care and health.
Roles and responsibilities will include:
- leadership of the countywide tribunal, assessment, and countywide placement services
- Ensuring that the voice and views of children, young people, parents, and carers are heard and threaded through not only the EHCP but also strategic developments.
- Proactively keep up to date with SEND legislations and guidance and be able to identify and understand the key changes required to processes to fulfil the legislation and related guidance.
- Manage relationships with families, head teachers, Principals and SENCOs, inclusion staff, social workers, health and other relevant agencies effectively to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people under the relevant circumstances.
- Develop, consolidate and improve an area of specialism related and relevant to the current SEN context for the benefit of the service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
