Tree Inspector
Role Responsibility
Kent is the largest county in the UK with 1.68 million residents and a workforce of over 821,600 people. With its bustling towns and peaceful landscapes, the Garden of England is the perfect place to live, work and play.
An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to play a key role within the Highways & Transportation Section’s Soft Landscape Team. We will also consider recent graduates seeking to establish themselves within the industry.
This technical inspection role will cover all aspects of highway related tree management including programmed tree asset inspections and ad-hoc reactive site visits to meet customer demand and emergency situations. The role will be based in West Kent. However, the ability to travel independently and work across the entire county will be a pre-requisite.
We are at the forefront of innovation within Kent and value the use of technology to help us make key decisions about our trees and strive for more efficient ways of managing our tree stock. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering this through the provision of high-quality front line arboricultural services.
A good understanding of tree related legislation will be required. You will also need to demonstrate good computer literacy skills and a good understanding of data capture hardware in the field. Initial training will be provided on all our processes as well as on-going training in tree related subjects throughout the year.
As a member of the team, you will also have access to a competitive range of benefits, including:
- an excellent local government pension scheme
- flexible working including some home working
- a generous holiday entitlement of up to 27 days or pro-rata for part time working
- maternity, paternity, adoption, and parental leave
- sickness provision
- training and career development opportunities
- childcare voucher scheme which can be used to pay for registered childcare for children up to 16 years old
- a staff discount card giving you discounts in shops and health clubs, as well as on travel and insurance and 10% off Kent Adult Education courses
- access to a range of local and national discounts and cashback through our Kent Rewards website
It is essential that you have the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day.
