Trainee IT Auditor

Role Responsibility

At Kent County Council, we are inspired by the challenge of continuous improvement and we are delighted to announce the exciting opportunity for a Trainee IT Auditor to strengthen and expand our Internal Audit and Counter Fraud team.

We have a highly respected, successful, supportive and innovative Internal Audit team providing audit services for Kent County Council and over 25 clients including other Councils, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, the Global Commercial Services Group (with 28 businesses) and now a recently awarded role to provide services to Canterbury Cathedral.

The candidate we are looking for will:

  • be educated to relevant degree level (BA or BSc Honours) and expected to undertake a specialist IT Audit qualification, e.g CISA, on acceptance of the post.
  • aspire to delivering insightful and value-adding audits.
  • contribute/support on the delivery of individual IT audits in accordance with agreed risk assessments and testing strategies as agreed by the Principal IT Auditor/ Audit Manager.
  • possess excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • demonstrate a consistent ability to develop and maintain business relationships.
  • display a good aptitude for process mapping, data analytics and agile auditing.

You should be self-motivated with a positive, flexible approach, and drive and enthusiasm to contribute towards audit delivery and maintaining our excellent reputation.

This post is offered on a full-time and permanent basis and although based in Maidstone, remote working is key to how we operate. There will be a requirement to visit external clients across the County and attending monthly team meetings in person.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
