Trainee Assistant Project Manager
Role Responsibility
Are you a graduate looking to make a significant impact in your community? We are seeking a dynamic and driven Trainee Assistant Project Manager to join our Major Capital Programme Team (MCPT). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of large-scale highway infrastructure projects that are essential for the growth and prosperity of our county.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Programme Delivery Manager across all stages of our major capital projects.. Your work will ensure that our projects not only meet but exceed their objectives, with effective monitoring and evaluation undertaken following the completion of schemes.
The role involves close collaboration with Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of major projects, by adhering to the stringent guidelines of the MCPT Project Lifecycle. The postholder will develop key budget monitoring and management skills, assisting with the financial aspects of projects and will take a key role in managing orders and invoices. The successful candidate will also gain exposure to procurement processes, aiding in the delivery of major schemes in accordance with the ‘Spending the Council’s Money’ guidelines.
As the Team Champion for social media and communications, the individual will support consultations and promotional activities, playing a pivotal role in the public engagement of our projects.
A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service is essential, moreover, the postholder will be expected to uphold Health and Safety standards and complete any required training needed in this area.
About You
With a 2: 2 degree or its equivalent in a discipline such as Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Environment or Geography, you should have good GCSE passes in Maths and English (Grade 4-9 or equivalent). Excellent teamworking skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective working relationships. You should have experience of gathering, organising and analysing data, and be capable of communicating confidently both verbally and in writing to a varied audience.
We’ll look for expertise in the leading or supporting of projects obtained in an academic or work environment, and in addition to being a methodical, organised worker, you should possess excellent attention to detail.
A willingness to work towards an Associate Project Manager or the Civil Engineering Senior Technician (Level 4) apprenticeship is essential. Capable of working under pressure and prioritising your tasks, you should also have good IT skills, especially in the use of Microsoft software.
