Trading Standards Officer

Role Responsibility

We are offering an exciting opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated person join our Trading Standards Service, focusing on animal health and welfare in Kent.  

The Role 

In this position you will be responsible for ensuring that owners of livestock, farms, animal markets and abattoirs meet their legal obligations, preventing the spread of animal disease and complying with welfare standards.  

You will carry out inspections, provide advice and guidance, respond to incidents and complaints, and carry out enforcement activity to help protect and make a difference to the rural economy. 

In addition to this role, you will take part in other enforcement activities and projects across the range of functions carried out by Trading Standards.  

The Candidate 

We are looking for individuals with GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) grade C and above, and previous regulatory or criminal law enforcement experience.  

This position provides a unique opportunity to develop your skills and career. We offer paid CTSI membership and support and training for personal development. You will receive professional training as well as continuous on the job training from our current team.

We are based in Ashford, but you will be expected to work partly from home a number of days a week. Your duties mean you will work across Kent and sometimes outside the County, and you may also be required to work outside core hours and occasionally at weekends when necessary.
