Trading Standards Officer
Role Responsibility
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Officer (qualified with DTS, DCA, DCATS, or TSPD) to join our high-profile team.
About the Role
Kent County Council’s Trading Standards Complex Investigations Team conducts large-scale criminal investigations into persistent and serious criminal activities, particularly consumer fraud, counterfeiting, scams, and doorstep crime.
As a Trading Standards Officer, you will be involved in all aspects of criminal investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing suspects, drafting witness statements, and preparing reports and schedules of evidence for formal action. You will be part of a dynamic and highly motivated team, which includes Trading Standards Officers, Accredited Financial Investigators, and a Victim Safeguarding team.
While you will be embedded in the investigations team, there will be ample opportunities to work across the Service in areas such as intelligence-led disruption activities, early interventions, and consumer education initiatives.
Our office is based in Ashford, with the capability for remote work where appropriate. You will be expected to work across Kent and occasionally further afield. This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
Please refer to the Job Description while completing your application, as candidates will be shortlisted based on how closely they match the criteria.
The post holder must be vetted to an enhanced level (this will be arranged for you).
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
