Temporary Traffic Regulation Officer
Kent County Council Highways has a vital role to play in ensuring the County stays on the move by maintaining and enhancing our road network. Reducing congestion is a key role for the KCC Streetworks Team, with their work designed to meet the mission statement “manage the use of Kent’s roads to help people make safe and reliable journeys”.
KCC Highways is looking for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) Coordinator to support the delivery of their objectives through proactive coordination of road works and activities on Kent’s roads.
You will be responsible for processing applications for Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders from various work promoters and event organisers. This includes checking that diversion routes have been agreed with the Streetworks Coordinator and liaising with other stakeholders as necessary to ensure optimum use of temporary road closures. The post holder will need to be confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders. These will include the Public, Parish and District Councils, Local and County Councillors as well as works promoters and contractors. You will also assist the Streetworks Manager with other administration duties to ensure the continued successful operation of the Kent Lane Rental Scheme and Kent Permit Scheme.
With a relevant knowledge of Streetworks legislation, you will need to have experience of dealing with temporary traffic regulation orders, be well-organised and possess effective communication skills. You should have a sound knowledge of all Microsoft office applications and have a high level of computer literacy.
It is essential that as the team operates in a highly reactive work environment you are able to prioritise your own workload, work to tight deadlines, be methodical in your approach, use initiative and operate with minimum supervision.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification
