Technical Insurance Officer

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council (KCC) has an exciting opportunity for a KR8 Technical Insurance Officer to join its Insurance Team, within the Finance Division.

This key role will focus on the day-to-day technical function of the Insurance Team and involves the administration of policies in relation to the Council’s insurance arrangements, including providing advice and information to KCC schools and internal directorates.

You will be required to work calmly and effectively under pressure, managing and prioritising their workload using their initiative, whilst at the same time working as a positive and constructive team member. 

You will need to demonstrate excellent written skills and have confident interpersonal qualities. You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.  A high level of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail will be essential in this role, and you will be required to be proficient in the main IT systems – particularly Excel. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The post is based at Maidstone although the team currently operates hybrid working arrangements, involving some office and home working.

Previous experience of working in an insurance environment is not essential, although candidates will be required to demonstrate A-Level or equivalent qualifications.
